The Westwood School Hosts

First High School Graduation

This year Westwood high school students appropriately titled their yearbook, "A Year of Firsts". 2010-2011 has seen the first of many events including soccer, track and volleyball teams, prom, senior ring ceremony, winter formal, Chinese fashion show, and many more. This year high school students and staff have been setting standards and new traditions that will shape The Westwood School High School for years to come.

The end of the 2010-2011 school year brought a new beginning for four precedent setting students at the first Westwood High School Graduation in a ceremony held at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.

Students completing the Westwood High School International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme: Danielle Elizabeth Alcala, Timothy William Corbeil, Terrance James Cottle, and Jessica Lyn Miller.

When asked what she will miss most about Westwood, Danielle Alcala, Class of 2011, said, "Knowing that any room I walk into, there will be teachers and students encouraging and challenging me to write five more words, to climb 30 more feet, and to say 'yes' even when I want to say 'no.'"

The Commencement Address was given by Jamie Wheal, a nationally known educator and wilderness advocate. Mr. Wheal has been an integral part of Westwood's plans and implementation of our high school vision.

Also honored at the Graduation and Promotion Ceremony were students promoting into the Westwood Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Middle School programs, and students receiving their International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program Certificate: Kristy Corbeil, Thomas Hendricks, Natasha Houshmand, Agata Jakubowska, and Jordan Setliff.

Ms. Butler, Head of School, and the Westwood Staff would like to extend congratulations to our students for their hard work and efforts this year. We are so proud of each of you! Have a wonderful, adventurous and safe summer and we look forward to seeing your future achievements!
