The International Montessori Council (IMC) was organized in 1998 under the auspices of the Montessori Foundation to provide an inclusive and affordable professional organization for Montessori educators and schools around the world to work together to promote high-fidelity Montessori to the outside world and help one another to address the challenges that we all face.

The IMC offers excellent, practical, and very supportive professional development, networking, school accreditation, and teacher education.

As a professional organization, the IMC believes that Montessori educators and schools need to work together in collaboration. We encourage our members to also be active in other local, state, or national Montessori organizations.

Get Involved

The International Montessori Council was formed as more and more Montessori educators found themselves drawn to our work in encouraging collaboration, best practices, and peace education and social justice throughout the many sectors of our global Montessori community. First individuals, then schools, began to volunteer and work together to build stronger schools and a much more connected community of Montessori educators, parents, and schools at the local, state/provincial, national, and international levels. If you feel like you are a leader within the IMC, then you are. Just let us know if you want some ideas of how to get started or to become more involved. We are a circle of equals.
